Volunteer Job Descriptions

Education and Advocacy Meeting Coordinator:

Coordinates the NAMI monthly Education and Advocacy meetings. Coordinator will organize and communicate with speakers, work with volunteers to setup, pick up refreshments, staff welcome table, make reminder phone calls to membership and clean-up, create flyers for meetings. Flexible hours. Can do some work from home with internet connection. Education and Advocacy meetingss are every second Thursday from 6 to 7 pm.


Volunteer Newsletter Coordinator:

This is a great job that almost anyone can do. You work with office staff to create the layout for our quarterly newsletter that is mailed out to our members and provided to the community. Coordinator will help gather articles and content and will work closely with office staff to design the layout of the newsletter with Microsoft Publisher. Can work from home with internet connection.


Office Volunteer:

Works in the NAMI office providing support with filing, phones, data entry, typing, mailings, making copies, and greeting the public. We offer flexible hours, weekdays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.


Phone Bank Volunteer:

Conducts phone survey to membership regarding various subjects/opinions, update contact information, announcement (Education and Advocacy Meetings). Once a month for 4 hours. Can work from home with phone.


Mailing Volunteer:

Prepares monthly bulk mailing of postcards or newsletter. Volunteer may work on folding, stuffing, labeling, addressing and stamping of mailings.


Tabling/Outreach Volunteer:

Helps with NAMI informational tables at local community events. Will be directly interacting with public to share information about NAMI. Helps with set-up, staffing table, and tear-down. Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds to help with set-up. Flexible hours on weekends and some weekday evenings.


Fundraising and Community Relations Committee Member:

Warmline Counselor:

Provides telephone support, education, and referrals to those affected by mental health challenges; callers may be individuals in crisis or the people that care for them. Counselors can take calls from home when convenient for them to be available. Free 6 week training will be provided.
